VINTAGE AFRICAN ELEPHANT WEDGEWOOD KRUEGER NATIONAL PARK PLATE 1ST EDITION OF A SERIES OF 6
Created to celebrate the various jungle animals that populate the Kruger National Park, one of the largest game reserves in Africa, covering an area of 19,485 square kilometers in the provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga in northeastern South Africa, a series of fine china plates were designed by Wedgwood Studios. As with this collectible china plate of an impala, each animal is printed in black in its natural habitat on a cream-colored background. The outer circle around the central image of the impala depicts the South African park with an assortment of well-known jungle creatures.
Designed originally in the 1960s then discontinued in 1972, this decorative plate of an African impala is quite collectible. The plate is in excellent vintage condition, free of scratches, cracks and crazing. On the backside of the plate appears two Wedgwood logos along with the title of the collection.
