    Description

PRICED TO SELL!! I'VE BEEN LUCKY IN RECENT PURCHASES AND AND HAVE A FEW OF THESE!!
    This is USGS Bulletin 504,
    The Sitka Mining District, Alaska
. Published in 1912, there can't be many of these around. The publication consists of the 32-page book and the original fold out map.
This old book describes the geology of this area known for several gold mines and some large gypsum deposits. There are several named gold mines discussed in the text, namely:
    Chichagoff mine
    Golden Gate mine
    Hirst Cove Mining Co.
    Princess Pinder prospects
    Cache mine
    Bauer mine
    Cascade claim
    Lucky Chance mine
    Other named prospects
The sections on these mines contain a lot of great descriptive geology.
There is a nice fold out map bound into the text that is in very good condition. On this map there is a list of 36 mines that are located by number on the map, including the ones mentioned in the text.
The text also discusses a large gypsum deposit in the area, as well as great descriptions of the general geology of the area. Interestin
gly, there are parts of the maps shown as unknown, where there is no geology shown. Shows hold old this report is, and that it really was one of the first reports to look at this area. Pretty cool stuff, and not easy to find these days!
