crybaby ( and many voxes after approx 1970 ) have a special taper. we all know it. it is a fast taper for that quick feel that so many people love. the full range of sweep occurs over a small range of the foot travel
.
The other major type of wah pot, the famous "ICAR" taper was used in early vox wahs and recent replicas. This smooth taper has a much slower spread, giving the player a more even, expressive feel to their frequency range. many boutique wahs and tone freaks use this taper.
TWO problems with ICAR replicas in general:
1.durability ( many of the currently available brands go scratchy quickly due to their size and type of construction),
2. Adjustablility. -- very often the installer must favor either a treble response or bassy response due to the spread out nature of the taper. the resistance range exceeds the travel of the gear. our hybrid solves that problem - no compromise, you get the WHOLE RANGE!
